Battleship is the classic naval strategy game where you place your fleet on a hidden grid and try to locate and sink your opponent's ships before they sink yours. This free browser version features three difficulty levels — Easy, Medium, and Hard — plus special power-ups that add a modern twist to the timeless formula. No download or signup required; just open the page and start playing.
A game of Battleship has two phases. In the placement phase, you arrange your ships on your grid. Click a cell to place a ship, use the rotate button to switch between horizontal and vertical orientation, or hit the auto-place button to let the computer arrange your fleet randomly. Once both sides are set, the battle phase begins. Click any cell on the enemy grid to fire a shot. Hits are marked in red, misses in white. You and your opponent alternate turns. The first player to sink every enemy ship wins the game.
The standard fleet consists of five ships of varying length:
Ships cannot overlap each other or extend beyond the edge of the 10×10 grid. Players take turns firing one shot per turn (unless a power-up is used). A ship is sunk when every cell it occupies has been hit. The game ends when one player's entire fleet has been destroyed.
This version of Battleship includes special abilities that shake up the classic formula. Airstrike fires a 3×1 line of shots in a single turn, letting you sweep a row or column quickly. Missile Spray fires in a cross pattern, covering more area at once. Each power-up has limited uses per game, so deploy them at the right moment for maximum impact.
Each player has five ships: Carrier (5), Battleship (4), Cruiser (3), Submarine (3), and Destroyer (2). That is 17 total cells to find and hit in order to win.
Two special abilities are available: Airstrike fires three shots in a line, and Missile Spray fires in a cross pattern. Both have limited uses, so timing matters.
